Mortal Kombat 1 is set to expand with more characters, more story and more …animals

of Mortal Kombat 1 panel has closed at San Diego Comic Con, and with it comes all the information you could ever hope for regarding the Year 2 release strategy for the game.

With new story chapters, a different cast of characters and a range of fluffy yet familiar fatalities, you can be sure that Kombat’s bloody realm isn’t over:

For those who completed Mortal Kombat 1’s story campaign, you know that in the final moments of the narrative you realize that everything is beyond messed up. It turns out that titanic versions of our heroes (and villains) exist in alternate timelines and are very aware of each other – to the point that they mostly want to wipe out the others and claim their place as the most important being. of space-time.

Except for Havik. He just wants to CHAOS.

And so, the trailer shows how Liu Kang’s victory against the megalomaniac Shang Tsung was just a prelude to a much more disturbing villain, as Havik just wants to let his fearsome flag fly over every corner of reality – going as far as far as to corrupt even Already has failed Sub Zero in Noob Saibot even weirder.

This is a good prelude to introduce the new range of characters coming to the game – because you best believe Noob Saibot is one of them:

Kombat Pack 2 is the usual spread of returning Mortal Kombat characters and classic movie faces, with the roster expanding to include:

  • Ghostface (of Scream fame)
  • Noob Saibot
  • SECTOR
  • Cyrax
  • Conan (the barbarian)
  • T1000 (Terminator)

Many of these goggles have been rumored or even fully revealed through various means, but that doesn’t diminish the excitement of seeing them come to the blood feud. Ghostface completes the ongoing tradition of creating a horror movie character in the world of Mortal Kombat, as Arnold Schwarzenegger makes his second physical appearance as the Cimmerian warrior Conan.

The left field entry here is absolutely the T1000 from Terminator 2: Judgment Day – the pale goop-lord of liquid metal promises to be a visual treat in terms of movement. And there’s already plenty of evidence to suggest that Robert Patrick is indeed providing the voice for her.

The other three characters are returning faces – if somewhat different ones. The original ketchup and mustard robot boys are back in the form of Cyrax and Sektor; only you can see that their altered timeline has moved the gender slider. They still look just as cool as their previous male counterparts, so I’m on board to see the rockets and bombs fly once more.

Finally, the dark and brooding lord of clones is back – with Noob Saibot returning to the roster. Noob Saibot is a character who has changed a lot since his return to Mortal Kombat 9 release, with each iteration being visually stunning and cool as heck to play in the game. The brief glimpse of him doing his song in the story trailer confirms that he’s still creating clones and throwing shadowy things around, so I’ve no doubt he’ll at least play similarly to it. Mortal Kombat 11 counterparty. Impressive.

The last feature shown in the trailer is the return of Animality finishing moves – those silly morphs where players would transform into an animal to viciously finish off their opponent. The only difference here is that they’re now rendered in stunning high definition – so you can watch Mileena Mantis devouring her opponent’s head with every detail on display.

There’s a huge amount of content to come, so if you’re still enjoying the MK1 experience, you’ll likely be pumped for what’s to come. And maybe if you jumped off the buzzing train a few stops back, this could be your ticket back.
